"Summer, summer, summertime / Time to sit back and unwind," became my anthem for this past Summer. As the weather got warmer, my sensitivity towards the things of God became weaker. A mount of distraction came in, and I had no will to fight against those things that sent me to lay in my bed of contentment and indifference. "What has happened," I would ask myself...but you know I couldn't stay down for too long...
When purpose has been spoken over your life, along with getting a glimpse of the things that God has promised, it is hard to simply deny that...it is hard to deny truth. But in the midst of so many distractions, sometimes it can actually seem very easy to do so.
When we become distracted, we are blinded to reality. Did you know that "Distracted Driving" has actually become a definition in the dictionary? Statistics prove that each day in the United States, over 8 people are killed and 1,161 injured in crashes that are reported to involve a distracted driver (CDC). You mean that something as precious as life can be taken away from simply being distracted? And see, this is the same way that we should view distractions when it comes to fulfilling our purpose. The distractions in your life may not have you to experience physical death, but will certainly allow you to bring a slow death your purpose.
Do you want that?
What things are in the way of you reaching your goals? What things are in the way of pursuing your destiny? What things stand in the way of the path that is already paved for you, through Him? If we really sit down with ourselves and answer these questions, I bet that so much could change.
It's time to cut out these distractions and pursue things that truly matter. What are we waiting for? I know that it's gonna be a challenge, because I fight against this every single day. But we have to know that anything worth having is worth fighting for. Please help me fight...fight with me against these distractions, yall.
“...So let’s keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision- you’ll see it yet! Now that we’re on the right track, let’s stay on it.” -Philippians 3:15-16 MSG”
